Common, Ordinary

1 COMMON significa comum, vulgar ou frequente. No sentido depreciativo (1), significa grosseiro, ordinário:
  • Maria is a very common name is Portugal.
    Maria é um nome muito comum em Portugal.
  • We've got a lot of things in common.
    Temos muitas coisas em comum.
  • He was so common (1) I was even embarrassed myself.
    Ele foi tão ordinário (1) que até eu fiquei constrangido.
2 ORDINARY significa normal, usual, habitual ou comum:
  • Could you tell me an ordinary day in your life?
    Podias falar-me de um dia normal da tua vida?
  • There's nothing special about us. We are just two ordinary people.
    Não há nada de especial sobre nós. Somos apenas duas pessoas comuns.

“become", "get", "go" e "turn"

Há uns dias atrás, falamos sobre os erros comuns no uso das palavras “eat” e “food”. Hoje vamos falar sobre os erros que normalmente acontecem envolvendo as palavras "become", "get", "go" e "turn". Temos aqui uma lista com a forma correta e os erros que normalmente cometemos!

A palavra “Get” é muito normal se falar em inglês, já a palavra “become” é mais formal.
